I'm Julio Cernadas

This project was created in summer of 2020. I wanted to build a web application using the NodeJS, Express, React and MongoDB (MERN) stack, so I decided on cloning Instagram's webpage and functionality (yes I know, I'm very orignial).

In this project I crafted various RESTful API endpoints to implement features like: authorization/authentication, editing user profiles, listing all users, following other users, uploading pictures, making posts, commenting on posts, liking posts, and many other cool actions.

For the authorization/authentication, I used JWT tokens, thus placing the responsibility on the client side. As for the API design, I focused on a stateless and dynamic backend design using Express, MongoDB, Mongoose, and AJAX (where possible). Additionally, I applied a server-side rendering structure to enhance SEO potential, all while learning the internal works of the 'Next JS' framework.

Finally the front-end stack was built with React and React-hooks. The webpage was designed with the Material-UI library.

This project was created in summer of 2018 at Byte Academy NYC. This was one of my final projects at the academy, and was intended to serve as an educational tool for investing (paper trading). It provides features like: buy / selling equities, shorting / covering stocks, order tracking, p/l balance charts, and other awesome actions.

I used the Flask web micro-framework and followed a Model-View-Controller architecture across the project. The application fetches real time pricing data feeds from various web sources and loads them to the dashboard when needed. I implemented my own Object Relational Mapper tool to learn to internal work behind libraries like SQLAlchemy. I also focused on following an Object-Oriented design patterns across all my Python classes and functions.

This app was hosted on AWS EC2 + RDS, and was deployed using Docker containers along with Nginx for efficient delivery.

This project was also created in summer of 2018 at Byte Academy NYC. It is a replica of Twitter's web app, user's are able to create accounts, make posts (tweets), repost tweets, and even follow other users.

I used the Django web framework and followed a Model-View-Controller architecture across the project.
